Fengxia Dong joined CARD after receiving her Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Kansas State University. She has an M.S. in information economics and a B.S. in information systems from Jilin University in her native China. Before coming to the United States to pursue her doctorate, she worked as a lecturer at Northern Jiaotong University in China.
Dong is an associate scientist with both the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI) and the Midwest Agribusiness Trade Research and Information Center (MATRIC) at Iowa State University. She conducts research on trade and international dairy market issues and helps FAPRI with its models pertaining to trade issues in China. Currently she is working on sanitary and phytosanitary and food safety issues in international trade. Besides international trade and trade policy, Dong’s research interests include industrial organization and finance.
