Amani Elobeid is the international sugar and ethanol analyst with the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI) at Iowa State University. Her FAPRI work centers on developing and maintaining the international sugar and ethanol models including updating estimates, and keeping track of the macroeconomic, domestic and trade policy environments. Elobeid's research involvement has been in the areas of food security and food aid, international trade, and biofuels markets.

Elobeid received a B.S. in economics from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, and an M.S. in economics from Iowa State University. She first came to Iowa State as a Fulbright Scholar and finished her Ph.D. in economics at ISU in 2001. Prior to joining FAPRI-CARD, Elobeid worked as an instructor in the Department of Economics and the Department of Community and Regional Planning at Iowa State. Elobeid is married to Thomas Gleisner, and they have two children, Maazin and Ayah.
